Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 medium onion shredded
- 2 1/2 tablespoons ghee or butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/3 teaspoon cardamom
- 1/3 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups of rice soaked and washed for half an hour
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups of water
- raisins and nuts to preference
Recipe Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the ghee or butter over medium heat.
- Add the shredded onion to the pot and sauté until golden brown and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped liver to the pot and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in the sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper, and cook for another minute.
- Add the soaked and washed rice to the pot. Stir well to coat the rice with the spices and onion mixture.
- Pour in the water and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and mix in the raisins and nuts.
- Serve the One Pot Rice with Herbs & Liver hot, garnished with additional nuts and herbs if desired.
