Cooking Time: 30 minutes Serves: 2 people
You will need:
Special Equipment:
- Skillet or wok
- Mixing bowl
Ingredients:
- 2 large oil spoons
- 300-350 grams of meat strips (striploin or rump steak can both work, or try Moomoo's ready sliced Fillet Strips)
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1/2 large red pepper
- 2 small chili peppers, chopped
- 1 cup basil leaves (not baladi)
- The sauce:
- 6 tablespoons of Oyster Sauce
- 2/3 tablespoons of Light Soy Sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 6-8 tablespoons water
- Sesame oil (start with 6 large spoons of water, if the sauce is heavy at the end, add 2 more)
Recipe Instructions
- Slice the meat into thin strips (incase you have a whole a piece together)
- For the meat to be cooked without water, the pan must be very hot, on high heat.
- Use a pan the right size to avoid overcrowding the pan with meat.
- Heat the pan with oil, then add minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the meat and stir-fry until browned.
- Add the red pepper and chili peppers, and continue stir-frying for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- In a small bowl, mix together the oyster sauce, light soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and sesame oil.
- Pour the sauce over the meat and vegetables, and stir-fry for another minute or two until everything is evenly coated and heated through.
- Remove from heat, add the basil leaves, and give it a final toss.
- Serve hot.
